There are many different types of oral cancer which we are going to discuss today! According to Globocan 2012 Data, accessed on 6th August 2014, India has the most substantial number of Oral Cancer<\/a> cases in the recent years. One-third of the total number of Oral Cancer Cases of World are diagnosed in India that is 30% of the total number of cases in the World. Every year around 77,000 new cases emerge due to Lung Cancer out of which 52000 die that means the death rate is between 70% to 80% for Oral Cancer. Also, the stats reflect that men are more prone to Oral Cancer compared to that of women. <\/span><\/p>\n

In the recent interview, the Head of the Oncology Department at AIIMS Delhi, Dr. Deo said that Oral Cancer cases in India are increasing at an alarming rate and the primary cause found behind this Tobacco<\/a>. Tobacco consumption has killed over 100 million people worldwide in the last one decade. This a terrifying number and a concerning one too. <\/span><\/p>\n

No doubt Tobacco is a significant cause of the Oral Cancer, but there are many other factors too which are contributing to Oral Cancer. One of them is lack of proper diagnoses at the right time. The initial stage cure rate of Oral Cancer is high compared to that of an advanced stage. In this article, we will know about the different types of Oral Cancer. <\/span><\/p>\n

Squamous Cell Carcinoma<\/b><\/h3>\n

Carcinoma means cancer. In Squamous Cell Carcinoma, some of the squamous cells of mouth are abnormal. A total of about 90% of oral cancer occurred in the mouth cavity, and oropharynx is Squamous Cell Carcinoma. The cells of Squamous Cell Carcinoma are flat and arranged in a scale line way covering of mouth, nose, larynx, and throat. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Verrucous Carcinoma <\/b><\/h3>\n

Verrucous carcinoma is made of cells of squamous cells which grows at a slow rate. Around 5% of all Oral Cancer or Oral Cavity Tumors are Verrucous Carcinoma. It is uncommon that this type of cancer will spread to its nearby organs but they can affect the tissues which are surrounding the site of origin.<\/span><\/p>\n

Minor Salivary Gland Carcinomas \u00a0<\/b><\/h3>\n

Minor Salivary Gland Carcinoma is a type of oral cancer which happens to takes or develops in Minor Salivary Glands present in the mouth. These minor salivary glands are found at the lining of Mouth and Throat. The different kinds of Minor Salivary Carcinomas are the mucoepidermoid carcinoma, polymorphous low-grade adenocarcinoma, adenoid cystic carcinoma. <\/span><\/p>\n

Lymphomas<\/b><\/h3>\n

The type of oral cancer which develops on the lymph tissue\/ nodes which is the part of the immune system of the are called Lymphomas. In mouth, tongue and tonsils are the most familiar section where the Lymphoma can occur. The most common signs which a person who has Lymphoma can experience is the Painless Swelling of the lymph nodes, most commonly on the neck as neck also possess some types of lymph tissues. Lymphoma is further classified into two categories that are Hodgkin Lymphoma and Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma. <\/span><\/p>\n

Melanoma <\/b><\/h3>\n

Melanomas originate from the pigments that are producing cells which give its color to the skin. Melanomas can occur in any part of mouth or throat. Therefore, the remedy to this type of Oral Cancer is the regular oral health checkup. Radiotherapy and surgery are the conventional methods which are useful for treating Melanoma. <\/span><\/p>\n

Benign Oral Cavity and Oropharyngeal Tumors<\/b><\/h3>\n

Most of the time a tumor grows with time, but that doesn’t mean that they are cancerous. This non-cancerous growth of the tumor is known as Benign. The general observed between Benign and Cancer is that cancer can spread to the nearby organs whereas benign doesn’t. But in some cases, they can spread to the nearby organs. Therefore surgery is suggested for all the Benign patients as benign doesn’t reoccur in the body after being removed. Different benign tumors are listed below: <\/span><\/p>\n
